Contact lenses and specialty fittings

SPECIALIZING IN HARD-TO-FIT CASES

Our doctors have more than 20 years of experience in fitting contact lenses for patients with complex vision conditions. Many people have been told by other doctors that they can't wear contacts, but this isn't true for most of them. It's a matter of knowing how to prescribe the right material and prescription for a successful, comfortable fit.

We fit contact lenses for challenging cases such as astigmatism, kerataconus, severe nearsightness and farsightedness, post-refractive surgery, and dry eye. For more information on these conditions, see Vision Conditions.

THE ADVANTAGES OF CONTACT LENSES

Contacts generally offer better sight and less distortion, don't get in the way of activities, have no frames to obstruct your vision, don't fog up or get splattered by mud or rain, and may look better.

We have more than 10,000 trial lenses in stock, so in most cases we can provide you with new lenses at your office visit. Contact us to schedule an appointment.

GAS PERMEABLE CONTACTS

Learn more about Gas Permeable (GP) contact lenses, also known as Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP): GP Contact Lenses.

WEARING AND CARING FOR CONTACTS

It may take a little practice, but inserting your lenses will soon become second nature. Learn about applying, wearing and removing contact lenses.

To ensure that they'll be comfortable throughout the day, contacts need to be cleaned, disinfected and reconditioned overnight on a regular basis. We recommend the following contact lens cleaning solutions:
      • Optifree Replenish
      • Optifree GP
      • Boston
      • Menicare GP
      • Clear Care

Manufacturers' rebates

CooperVision, Vistakon, and Bausch + Lomb offer rebates to make wearing contact lenses more affordable. Rebate forms for Ciba Vision are available from our office.

Insurance plans

We accept most major medical and vision plans, including:
      • Vision Service Plan (VSP)
      • Davis Vision
      • Eyemed
      • OptumHealth Vision (formally Spectera)

Please have your insurance benefits and details confirmed with your employer or insurance carrier prior to your visit. If you have any question regarding your frames, lenses, or the status of your glasses, please email our opticians: optical@qeanyc.com
